A helpful guide, thanks Gillian :-) I love election day also! I sit down at 6pm with a red wine and my favourite meal and watch Antony Green....so sad it's his last one. I have already voted and each time I do I give a silent "thanks" for the privilege of being able to vote in a democracy.
Oh no, I didn’t realise this would be Antony’s last election - election night just won’t be the same! Fingers and toes crossed we get to enjoy election night - I am more hopeful than I was a month ago! xo
Thanks Gillian. A brilliant and informative article that has me almost excited about voting 😃
I even followed some of your useful links and learnt more about how our voting system works. I must admit I also ventured down a few rabbit holes learning more about some of the lesser known candidates but hey, it’s all knowledge, right? 😝
Thanks Gillian: Having spent a good deal of time overseas I too really appreciate what we have in Australia in relation to voting. eg: I am away from my voting district this election...so I got a postal vote sent to me...done and dusted and in the mail. My glimmers come directly from yours...I got a smile from each of yours...same ones for me...

Bright sunny sparkly morning after a few grey days.
Real Autumn chill in the air this morning - so fresh and crisp!
A perfect piece of artwork ... because that's exactly how some people view the voting process. It's funny when I look at it now, but these same voters then resort to ticking anyone because of a hunch or some feedback they once heard. Love the article, well explained.
Thanks David - it came from my first experience voting as a young person where I was totally shocked by that Senate ballot - I knew who I wanted to vote for but there where others I ‘d not heard of and for some reason I didn’t like the party order below the line so voted below the line - back then you had to number every box below the line - yikes I think I was past 100 - probably invalidated my vote cause it was so complex!
I’ve sent the build a ballot link to my two young adult voters 🙂 My son’s first opportunity to vote was in the referendum last year & this will be his first election.
Our sons must be about the same age. This is my son‘s first chance to vote after the referendum. I wrote this post for him, so glad it worked for you too!
Mine has spent some time researching candidates and we talk about life, the universe and everything a lot. It’s good to have the resources to offer them too as they’ll be on their own in the polling booth with their little pencil.
I love to cast my vote and deeply appreciate our electoral system.
Me too!
Yay! Wonderful!
Yay! Happy voting :)

Love that! Always interesting to see campaigns/issues of candidates outside of the major parties!
Hey Ellen, glad it was helpful! Sorry, not sorry about the rabbit holes :)
Voting from overseas! This election is MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER and this is a great post to get us revved up and ready. Thank you Lil Bean! x
Glad you are feeling revved up!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I am going to reference this post every time I come across ambivalence to voting in 🇨🇭. It’s such a privilege! Good luck.
Amazing! So glad it is helpful even in Switzerland! I didn’t anticipate that :)

Hey Glimmer buddy! Thanks for saying Hi :)
Thanks for writing this article. I found the ‘build a ballot’ link quick and useful rather than having to look up each party’s websites :)
You are welcome Emma, thanks for letting me know Build a ballot worked well for you!
Thanks Gillian, it worked for me too. I was getting a bit daunted but this was fantastic xx
I’m so glad! Happy voting :)

Ah lovely boys 😉

Thank you! This is so informative and fascinating. I'll have to return to this post and check out all the links.
Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm!
