I love the idea of. Delight practice! I have recently reduced my coffee intake but every few days I really enjoy going for a walk on the beach, getting a takeaway coffee, and sitting in the dunes just enjoying looking at the waves. I find it so delightful because it’s now a special treat and with the sunshine and just all that nervous system regulation with the sound of Surf and my bare feet in the sand… ❤️

That does sound delightful! I love the deliberateness of delight - not something I have been great at. Thank you for the inspiration!

I do have a couple of surefire delight practices. One is going to pocket park next to where I live most mornings to do tai chi in a grove of casuarinas and gums. Amazing bird life above me, roots of trees below me and the occasional curious dog trying to work out what weird thing I am doing. It’s magic ! And getting down and dirty in my veggie plot at the community garden always lifts my spirits and renews my energy, although crop yield highly variable! Feel very fortunate to have both these practices in my life

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing Sally - both you and Michelle have delight practices in nature - that seems perfect, I’m going to muse on an art/nature practice and see what emerges! Thank you.

Thank you, Gillian! I loved the poetry reading! I realised I spent most of yesterday taking my time and meandering: slow breakfast at a cafe and a cheeky cocktail at lunchtime! Thank you for defining what delight is. It reminded me of the artists dates that I started many years ago through Julia Cameron's book: The Artist's Way. Taking myself out on a date to the cinema, to a bookshop, to the beach, to a cafe, to the beach, doing some drawing/painting... all bring so much delight! A big glimmer for me yesterday was a feedback I received from a parent saying how much her son enjoyed the dance classes with me and how he looks forward to Mondays because of dance. Today's glimmer: cold morning swim with my neighbour. x

Oh what a super reminder - perhaps I should start my exploration of what my delight practice should be with artist dates! Thank you for the idea :). Three cheers for a slow meandering day and thank you for sharing your glimmers - I think I’d want you to be my dance teacher too! xo

Yay for artist dates! I went on one over the weekend and spontaneously yesterday afternoon. I'd gladly show you some dance improv activities! xo

I stopped in at a super little bookshop - which I probably would have done anyway, but labelling it an artist date made it feel like a gift to me :) Yay for dance improv!

I love that you stopped by a little bookshop. It's all the little things. Flâneuring is another great way of creating delight. x

Woah! I had to look Flaneuring up - (I don't even know how to get those little uppy things to appear on my text). Yes, although I think perhaps better suited to larger cities where it is easy to wander to places you have not been before - something I do in Sydney when I visit.

Do let me know when you're next in Sydney. I won't interrupt your flâneuring experience (it seems to be a solo experience) but it'll be lovely to meet in person! BTW that uppy roof thing above the â and any other accents on a letter can be made by holding down the key for that letter. I only worked that out recently :-D
